FMA Foundations
Filipino Martial Arts are predominately weapons based systems aimed at developing well rounded practitioners while constantly evolving and encouraging students to express their own personal strengths. The use of weapons such as single stick, double stick, knives, swords, projectiles and flexible weapons take precedence and act as a "force multiplier" to give practitioners an edge in combat.
It is said that there are as many different Filipino arts as there are islands in the Philippines, and there are aspects unique to each art, however there are shared components among the arts including footwork, body angling, positioning, transferability of skill (for example from weapon to empty hand) and commonality of motion.
